Directory-search enhancement

Directory-search enhancement

Short, concise description of the idea
Making it possible to constrict search results by type of journal - community, shared, or individual.

Full description of the idea
This only occurred to me today. I was trying to find communities (NOT individuals) listing a particular interest, and I discovered I didn't know how to restrict the search. If the interest is big enough, a straight-up interest search won't display *anything*, not even communities at the top and users flagged as being too numerous to list. However, a directory search returns them with the communities all mixed in with the users.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Being able to find communities without needing to wade through individual-diary results
  • Possible lower hits on the database servers, if it can do the restriction early enough to prevent it from searching all the individuals
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Possibly a pain to code
  • Of only limited appeal?
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I'm not a coder, and I don't even play one on TV. I'm just tossing breadcrumbs on the water.
