Create New Journal Entry Via your email client

Create New Journal Entry Via your email client

Short, concise description of the idea
Using your email and some x-refs to the headers, entering your journal entry without a client or browser access.

Full description of the idea
The body and subject of the message would be the obvious body and subject of the entry. You would sent it to a specific lj address where it would note your email for verification and default to your own journal. Adding x-refs for mood, music, other journals/communities would be filled in by the users. The server on which the lj email would collect would have a program that would parse and process the entries.

An ordered list of benefits

  • More percieved privacy than webbrowser or application I'
  • User machine has limited features (no broswer or temporary machine)
  • Save entries that aren't quite finished (postpone message or save in sent messages). Current methods do not supply this.
  • Does not require client to download new programs.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Advanced knowledge of email clients is needed by user for setup.
  • Server program is needed and load maybe huge. Developement may be slow and/or difficult.
  • Will mostly be useful to *nix terminal users. i.e. people who use pine, elm, mail, etc...
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I'm not really sure how to impliment the server program.
