communities during update

Short, concise description of the idea
add a random community to the bottom of the update journal page.

Full description of the idea
Putting a community on the update page gives different communities visibility. you may notice a community you want to join that you never would have thought of otherwise. if the portal is ever released where everyone can see it, it can also be a box there.

An ordered list of benefits

  • higher visibility of communities will make for more active communities.
  • this will increase the community aspect of LJ by tieing the users togethr in communitites.
  • maintainers will be happy with the larger communities.
  • people will find other people like themselves more easily, increasing the chances they will stay on and get a paid journal.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • slightly longer to load update.bml?
  • I can't see much of a drawback for an extra string of text at the bottom of a page.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • i'm not really sure hwo to impliment, but i'm relatively sure it wouldn't be that hard. i think it would be similar to random.bml, but only for communities.
  • Tags: community maintenance, journal promotion, § implemented differently
