Reply to LJ Comment email *for non-HTML email editors*

Short, concise description of the idea
Allow a reply address for those who have non-HTML capable mail editors, so that a comment can auto-insert into the thread

Full description of the idea
OK - we've got an easy/lazy solution for those that have HTML capable e-mail clients, but those of us that still use PINE, mutt, etc., in a non-GUI interface still have to go to the website to update. And, if they've got a client that doesn't support replying to friends comments...or comments in general, that still leaves them going to the website. Yes, lazy, but the web interface experience isn't always the happiest for all people.

An ordered list of benefits

  • People who use non-HTML capable email clients will also have a "lazy" way of responding to comments.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Determining who gets access to these reply-only emails. Ie., do you want the comment reply load on the email server or on the web server?
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Perhaps allowing this feature to those who do not have "Send HTML emails".
  • Add another check box enabling reponse by email (available only if "send HTML emails" is left unchecked.
  • Tags: comments, notifications, § historical
    • Post a new comment
