Ban buttons on profile pages

Ban buttons on profile pages

Short, concise description of the idea
It would be practical if there were ban buttons on profile pages.

Full description of the idea
I find the lack of a ban button on profile pages annoying. After checking to make sure a user is, indeed, a spambot or generally a spammer — by checking their journal and their profile page — having to then copy their username, look up the ban users page and go through the manual banning process is tedious.

As someone who doesn't have lj's icon hover-over turned on, since I dislike pop-up windows jumping out at me whenever I move my mouse the wrong way (plus, it makes it impossible to read the icon keywords which a normal hover-over provides), the lack of easily accessible 'ban' links is a big detriment to my lj experience.

Also, if there could be an easy way to ban one user from every comm one mods from the profile page of said user, that would be a win. Or even just one comm at a time.

An ordered list of benefits
  • With one click you can make sure you're banning the correct person from your journal/comm.
  • And with said one click you can just as easily unban a previously banned person, having decided their ways are not so sinister after all.
  • There's no need to go link-hunting for the ban page, to make sure the username is copied/spelled right, etc.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • None? Click-happy folks would probably end up getting anonymous complaints from folks they might have inadvertently banned, or hear about such problems from third parties, but as far as spambot prevention goes, I don't see any issues.
