Post "Location" to Twitter

Post "Location" to Twitter

Short, concise description of the idea
When cross-posting an LJ entry to Twitter, and that entry has a "Location", that location info should be sent to Twitter as well.

Full description of the idea
The Twitter protocol request takes parameters "lat", "long" (floats) and "display_coordinates=1".

Parse out floats present in LJ's Location field, or lat/long in standard HHH° MM' SS.SS [NSEW] form.

If the user typed free-text in Location, I guess they're out of luck, because Twitter doesn't support that.

For example: http://jwz.livejournal.com/1288202.html -vs- http://twitter.com/jwz/status/24239200830

An ordered list of benefits
  • If I posted location to a public LJ entry, and have configured that entry to also be posted to my public Twitter, there is no reason not to send all of the information that I published, including location.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • None.
