Original Post Approval

Original Post Approval

Short, concise description of the idea
I've noticed in some communities that maintainers reject far too many original posts. A form of digging and burying should be implemented to allow all members of communities to vote on what should be posted.

Full description of the idea
Some maintainers of communities wield their power to allow or reject posts in a dictatorial fashion. On Digg, all users are allowed to "vote" by deciding whether to digg up or bury a story. It would aid community democracy to apply this in some way to original posts on livejournal. Allow all users in a community to post freely, and then allow members of that community to either "digg" or "bury" the post.

Just an idea.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Greater discussion democracy.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Herd mentality, in that if something is dugg way up, users will be less likely to attempt to bury.
