Upgrades to Theme Browser
Short, concise description of the idea
Upgrade the theme browser and page setup sections of the Customize Journal page. Add the ability to browse themes by the actual theme, independent of color scheme or graphics, and filter out all themes that cannot be customized to match the Page Setup selected.
Full description of the idea
Currently, the Theme browser offers a dizzying number of thumbnails, most of which are color or graphic header variations on a comparatively small number of themes. After a theme is selected, it will be auto-configured to the page setup specified by the user (no sidebar, right/left sidebar, two sidebars), but only if that page setup is actually available on for that theme.
This enhancement would allow for a single entry per theme, filtered by themes that match the page setup. After a theme is chosen with its default color/graphic scheme, that could be customized in a later step.
- Right now, the theme browser is difficult for users to browse when they have strong interests in their theme unrelated to color scheme. This would allow for more sophisticated filtering and provide usability.
- The primary drawback I see is more complexity for the developers.
