Make the nav bar more consistent by greying out the "Share This!" button
Short, concise description of the idea
Instead of hiding the new "Share This!" button when it doesn't apply to a non-public entry, grey it out with a tooltip explaining why it's not clickable
Full description of the idea
Rapidly thumbing through my past journal entries has become a chore since the "Share This!" feature was introduced. The button only appears in the navigation bar on talkread pages if the entry is public, otherwise it's hidden; so I'm using either the "Previous Entry" or "Next Entry" buttons in the nav bar all the time, it doesn't help if they keep moving due to the disappearance/reappearance of the "Share This" button, when the rest of my layout stays put.
If the "Share This!" feature is here to stay, then its button in the nav bar should stay put at all times; if an entry can't be shared, grey out the button and include a tooltip explaining why the entry can't be shared.
- More efficient entry navigation
- Er, that's it.
- Tooltip might need some work beyond simple alt text, in the event people click on the greyed-out button, nothing happens, and they get confused. Perhaps an AJAX jobby...
